Weekend Catch Up

I've been MIA again so its a catch up from me this week as I've been a busy bunny and life is taking over.

We've been doing more decorating on the flat, this time we tackled the kids room, I'm glad to say its now all painted and almost complete apart from some finishing touches, I need to gloss some bits here and there but I really don't enjoy glossing.

I'm  also about to embark on the hard grind of my marathon training next week with my long runs kicking in, I have to admit as it gets closer its taking over much of my life and focus, with stretches, strength and training runs I'm not getting in as much claying as I'd like, especially with Spring around the corner somewhere.

Its niggling at me that I should be making/crafting something but I'm just not finding the time.

So what do you all do when life takes over and how do you find or make the time for the fun crafty things in your life esp if you are trying to make a go of it as a business?

  1. I know what you mean about running taking over. I am actually looking forward to this week as I have less to do with a race on Sunday!! I saw your Alice on your facebook page. Love it. That must have taken some time! Have a good week and look after that hip!

  2. Very cute little Alice charm. In terms of balancing crafting and life in general- I struggle! I think I'm finding it's just best to go with the flow- work very hard when the right mood strikes, and then forgive myself when it doesn't!

  3. I think everyone struggles with the life/work/craft balance. Crafting is such a time-intensive occupation it's always going to be a problem. I think it takes a long time to work out the best way forward - it's probably different for everyone. Love the little Alice!

  4. I often find other bits of life taking over as I'm not very good at squeezing my creative bits into small chunks of time - I like to know I've got time to think before I get going!

  5. I've recently faced my own decorating versus crafting experience but sadly, sometimes the painting just has to be done! Your Alice charm is really cute x

  6. I think you've done quite well doing the lovely little Alice charm despite all the other claims on your time! I find the housework suffers in the run up to a craft fair or needling to fill up the Folksy/Etsy shops! Crafting is much more fun!

  7. Its so hard to keep up with everything isn't it... personally i think your doing exceptionally well to be training for a marathon AND re-decorating, let alone getting creative!

Your little charm is adorable :) x

  9. It is difficult to juggle everything. I'm afraid we only got as far as buying the 'match pots' for the paint!!

  10. Such a cute charm!
Yes, life often gets in the way of what we'd really like to be doing doesn't it? I seem to be sinking under a pile of orders which gets bigger and bigger whilst life and its chores pile up too. xxx

  11. Trying to get the right balance can be a bit of a struggle but we are usually a flexible lot and most things turn out right in the end. Good luck in your training and your marathon. :)

  12. I know exactly what you mean - training for something like a marathon is completely time consuming towards the final push - I wouldn't worry too much... if you have orders then that's one thing, but you can always catch up with stock after the big day! Good luck with the big runs, hope they go really well! Simmi x

  13. It is hard to juggle everything, one idea I've come across is creative journals - that way you can make notes, draw, write about etc your ideas in snatched fragments of time and then work on them later. Alice is brilliant! Really cute

  15. Love the little Alice.I know what you mean about life taking over.I think sometimes it's like that and we just have to make the best use of our crafting time when we get it!

  16. When I find life taking over I end up having to book time to get all my crafting done. Hope your long runs go ok.

  18. I agree with Stephen that it helps to set aside a block of creative time just for yourself. I find I handle other aspects of my life better if I also get to be creative. Your Alice is cute, will you be making other characters? Good luck with the running!
