Colour Mixing Purple Hues for Spring at Lottie Of London Jewellery

I grabbed a few hours this week to work on my next colour mixing project for Spring, ultra violet is 2018's Pantone colour of the year and as I haven't had the opportunity to work many purples into my creations this was the perfect time.

Pantone Colour of the year 2018

So here's the first of my colour mixing venture with purple hues, I wanted to keep these light for the upcoming spring and summer season.

I think this makes the perfect combination for a new addition to our long statement necklace collection.

I also tried another purple colour mix as seen below with two additional colours, a soft peach and yellow hue.  I love this combination its reminds me perfectly of spring especially crocuses.

I've yet to create something with this colour combination but I am thinking a Klimt design would be perfect to capture all the colours.

In the meantime our new Purple Long Bead Necklace will be available for purchase from the 22nd March so keep your eyes peeled for our latest addition.

My first is a new Tube Statement Necklace, a first for me at Lottie of London which I enjoyed crafting.  With bold and bright colours in an abstract design my tube necklace has been strung onto a simple silver plated chain so as not to detract from the design.

Two new designs of my Half Moon Statement Earrings, a firm favourite of mine so I couldn't resit making more.

To finish something a little different, a new style of stud earrings in an abstract shape.

Sea Urchin & Seashell Summer Beads & Jewellery

As we are enjoying our moment of sun over here in the UK, I haven't been doing much this weekend apart from trying to tan my legs, unfortunately without much success.

My Etsy shop has been doing very well since the beginning of July which has prompted me to get my clay out and make a couple of new pieces for the summer.

One of my favourite peices I made last year was my urchin themed necklaces, but this time I've decided to go a little bolder with the colour scheme.

As you can see from one of last years pieces, I kept to quite natural tones for my colour palette with white, mint green and a soft beige.

This time I've decided to go a little bolder with the colour theme.  I've used a palette created by Design Seeds, its a fabulous website offering a vast collection of beautiful colour palettes created from themes, nature and seasons and is definitely worth a look and its perfect for colour inspirations.

So here's my seashell cane using an assortment of the colours mixed and combined a create a cane that will provide the main theme for my beads.

Unfortunately I didn't quite mix up enough of the colours for the palette and so I will only be able to create a few pieces, but here's a selection of the beads made with plans to create a chunky urchin necklace, beaded thong necklace and bracelet.  As mentioned due the enjoying the weather the necklaces have yet to be put together.

As I also recently started a collection of polymer clay rings and studs I decided to create some seashell themes for a summer collection.

I predict not much claying this week will be done, its quite diffucult claying in this heat as the clay can become quite soft and sticky if over worked, so I guess I'll have a little more time to tan my pasty legs.

Weekend Catch Up with Polymer Clay

Well I had planned to do a post on Faux Jade with polymer clay, but life always has other plans, well actually it was my hubby as he arranged a much needed night out the good old fashioned way of a meal and a film, which was wonderful.  He had bought tickets to see Les Miserable but the geek in me persuaded him that we should see the Hobbit as it won't be showing much longer, very enjoyable and 3D is highly recommended and enchanced by a good half bottle of wine.

Still I do have some polymer clay makes that I had have been creating over the last week, following my Polymer Clay Millefiori Rose Canes.

Here are some pendants created from my red rose cane and I've incorporated a Zipper Cane as an edging.  The largest will be a brooch, but I'm still undecided on what I will do with the other pieces.

This is a collection of beads I've created with the burgundy rose cane, I have plans for these to be teamed with some deep red Swarovski crystals I have in my bead box to create a bracelet.

I've also been working some colour mixing for the new Pantone Spring/Summer 2013 colour predictions, if you haven't seen the colours yet here they are.

Below are my colour samples, not a bad match I think although you may notice Greyed Jade is missing, I must of got distracted.

So what do you think of the colour predictions?  Emerald has been named as Pantones colour of the year for 2013, so expect to see a lot of it.  I don't have a lot of green in my wardrobe but I might just find a way to incorporate it into my accessories.  Do you love Emerald?

Exploring New Colour Themes with Polymer Clay

The past week I've been playing around with some new colours, I seem to be stuck in a bit of a colour rut lately featuring many pink and blues within my work and I have decided it is time to explore some new colour themes.

To aid me in my colour exploration I have found a fantastic website called Design Seeds, its a wonderful website featuring an array of colour palettes, which can be searched by colour value or theme.

I already had an idea of what I was aiming for a summer feel reminiscent of the sea and nature and finally found the perfect colour palette for my new designs Urchin Tones.

One of my favourite past polymer clay canes has been my seashell cane, featured in some of my past designs and seen here in my seashell cane bracelet.

So I set about making my new polymer clay cane, colour mixing and combining the urchin tone palette, here is my finished seashell cane.

And here are my finished designs using my new polymer clay cane, I decided to keep in tone with the theme and created some new urchin beads to complete my designs.

I love the new colour theme and have some bracelets also planned for this new palette,  its quite a step away from the pink and blues I had been recently creating and I've decided to continue my exploration of new colours and to try some new themes over the summer.
