I'm Back! with some new Jewellery Makes

Well I'm back, though I haven't actually been away! I've been very preoccupied these last few weeks as we have been visiting open days for my daughters secondary school applications, I have to admit its been a nightmare but the application is now submitted so its over with till next march.

I'm glad to say that in between all this I have been able to get some crafting in during this time. My internet went down a few weeks ago which meant that computer jobs went on hold and I decided to pull my beads out and create some items with my older stock. Its been a very long time since I've hit the bead stash and I had great fun putting together some new pieces for my Etsy Store.

Above are two Autumnal toned pieces created with glass pearls and venetian glass beads with hints of gold.

Below are some cooler Winter toned pieces with white/cream glass pearls with hints of ice blue and another featuring my burgundy polymer clay millefiori beads.

I have to say I thoughy enjoyed getting the bead box out and creating these peices it's been too long, maybe the internet should go down more often.

Beaded Necklaces and Birthday Celebrations

Its been a busy week just gone as we celebrated my husbands birthday mid week and had a fantastic BBQ hosted by our wonderful friends, thank you Ciara of  My Fussy Eater for hosting a brilliant party and to our aunt Marisa for the brilliant birthday cake.

So not much crafting has been going on this end though I did get to finish off two seed bead necklaces I had previously started and their perfect for summer, here's a look.

I have so many beads left over from my stash I'm trying to make an effort to use them.  So for now its back to work, have a great week everyone.

Seed Bead Scoop Necklace

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend Everyone

I haven't been able to get much claying in lately! Life if taking over again as we are looking for a mortgage to buy our flat, so far its been one problem after another so a much needed day out with friends was so needed.

A Fringe Necklace

I planned to wear a simple black chiffon top but as we was going from day to night I felt it needed something to jazz it up.  I knew what I wanted to create in my head, it was a long seed bead fringe necklace in black, but despite my efforts I couldn't find a tutorial free or paid anywhere on the net.  I needed to get started so I settled on a multi strand scoop necklace instead and set about threading my beads.

It took me three days to complete as I kept changing the colour scheme (an earlier version can be seen above) but finally decided on black and gold after I found a selection of gold beads from my old stash.

Another problem I had was deciding how to finish the necklace, some gold plated cone ends would have been perfect but as time was not on my side I had to settle for jump rings on this occasion, however cone ends can be added at a later date and I think my finished necklace goes perfectly with my top..

New Fall Polymer Clay Jewellery

I'm Back! Well its been a pretty busy time, but with the majority of house decorating and my half marathon now behind me its back to work creating and blogging.

So here's a glimpse of some of my new creations, I wanted to create some simple pieces of jewellery incorporating some of the Pantone colours for Autumn/Winter 2012.

The colours I choose for these pieces are French Roast and Honey Gold perfect for Autumn.

Creating a Handcrafted Item of Jewellery Part Two

Catch up on Part One of Creating a Handcrafted Item Of Jewellery

Following on from last weeks post ... Here is Part Two of creating and finishing my handcrafted Ribbon Necklace

12.00pm Its time to sand and buff my beads, I use three grades of sandpaper and warm water with a tiny amount of washing up liquid, to give each bead a good sanding

12.35pm Once the beads have been sanded they need to be buffed firstly with denim as this helps to remove any remaining dust and residue from the bead and lastly with my hobby tool to create a beautiful matte shine ready for varnishing.

1.0pm Once varnished the beads must be given time to dry.


6.20pm Back again ! The beads are now dry and are ready to be assembled to create the finished necklace.

 The necklace is carefully strung together with ribbon with each bead secured into place

7.45pm And here it is my completed handcrafted necklace, in all to create this piece it took me a total of 2 days to complete allowing for breaks in between when the beads needed cooling or drying.
