Inspirations from Paris Fashion Week 2012

I was recently inspired by Lava dress I saw at Paris fashion week by Stephane Roland as part of his Haute-Couture Collection

I love the simplicity of the black and white but the flash of red I feel adds an inner layer a glimpse of another side of ones personality maybe.

So with this inspiration I have been working on some clay pieces here

Its not actually as simple as one would think you really have to get the balance of the red right and in the right place too some styles I tried just would not work.  Here are some bracelets I also made, my intention was for a single red bead to be included with each bracelet but the balance was just not right, it could have been because they where solid red beads unlike my pieces above where the red had been wrap around a black bead breaking the colour up.

Perfect Pearls & Polymer Clay Part 2

For my next project on perfect pearls I used a tutorial from Donna Kato's The Art of Polymer Clay- Creative Surface Effects - The Cloisonne Heart Pin.

For the pattern of the texture plate I used an assortment of my collages to sketch some patterns for designs ideas and created my texture plate

Following the project instructions I used both my perfect pearls and my mica pigment powders together as this gave me a wider range of colours to work with, and here it is below, I was skeptical at first even as I was using the heat gun to make the Kato clear it took ages and I thought I had gone wrong somewhere but patience paid off.

I am in love with this method and its reminded me of why I fell in love with polymer clay in the first place, it holds so many possibility's

Its not a very clear picture I know, but i was so please and wanted to blog asap to show you all.  It still needs polishing and finishing but it looks great, the colours to pop as much as I'd hoped but this could be because of the colour range I have.

Now to decide if it should be a pin or a pendant, what do you think?

Update 19/02/2012

Here's an updated photo, before sanding, buffing and polishing my Cloisonne piece was very muted and foggy and I thought I had done something wrong, but no a good clean and and it looks good which I think will now become a brooch.
